Picked up a 35mm to 70mm Olympus Superzoom 80g for $6 at a thrift store. With some Kodak Portra 160 I really like the results! On a recent gig in AKL I threw it into my bag and with sometime in between locations it was a heap of fun to explore with. The Olympus Superzoom 80g pocket camera was released in 2002 (I think) and works well.
I think my hit rate and the way it manages auto exposure/ focusing is better than the Olympus MJU 2– but i’ve discovered the max shutter of the MJU2 is only 1/1000 and Fstop of just 11- so a low iso film over Summer like used here or more shade is required.
Anyway, having a wee zoom to 70mm is actually quite cool for those people images happening more than a few steps away. The shutter and wind on is very noisy though so i had to be brave when shooting sneaky pics. A fun camera! (The image of me is actually from talent, a wee girl on the shoot, who LOVED this camera! Ha.)
